The project

In 2014, CEFRIO, in collaboration with its associate researcher at UQAT and the Assistant Director of Training and Research at the Kativik School Board (KSB), initiated a project to establish a community of practice for Teacher Training Counsellors of Nunavik. Following meetings of exchange, reflection and sharing URSIQ was created. URSIQ is a collaborative space in which pedagogical resources elaborated by and for teachers and Inuit pedagogical advisers working in the fourteen communities of Nunavik are shared.

The URSIQ site enhances the Inuktitut learning environment by breaking the isolation of Inuit educators and teachers by empowering them to collaborate remotely using digital tools and giving access to more Inuktitut teaching resources. In addition to providing educational services to the Nunavik teachers, who instil in their students the qualities, skills and abilities required for their well-being, everyone will be able to benefit from the tools and expertise developed through this project.
